More than 30 years experience in the fields of fine art, commercial art, and graphics. Works in oil, pastel, acrylics, pencil and charcoal. Current focus primarily on oils in impressionistic and semi-abstract styles. Can provide commissioned works for your home or business.
DIVERSE SUBJECTS & STYLES
Over the years, the artist has studied and produced works in a number of styles and mediums. Currently, his work is more impressionistic and/or semi-abstract, with rich colors and textured layers of oil paint. Commissioned paintings are all done with the understanding that the artist has complete liberty, though he may at times agree to a certain color palette or theme especially for art which will be displayed in public places.
CLASSICAL & CONTEMPORARY TRAINING
Mark Hillis was trained under the private instruction of Zita Mellon, master colorist and private instructor in Allendale, South Carolina, followed by three years of instruction at Ringling School of Art, Sarasota, Florida, where he received his Certification in Fine Art in 1978. Through the years he has continued his own studies and has also taught private lessons to adults and young people.
